TUMSPR News: Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) Institute of Public Health Research (IPHR) will undertake a greater responsibility by assuming a national role to play.
Institute of Public Health Research (IPHR) which is a part of TUMS School of Public Health (SPH) and it has been established in 1965 and currently has 11 research centers around the country, has been given a greater role to play as a scientific and research institute to serve the state and help the Ministry of Health in carrying national studies and doing surveillance for the state’s health status and that of the region.
The new responsibility emerged after the ministry of health’s council for developing medical sciences universities met in early June 2009.
The institute will do the needs assessment regarding health research for the ministry, provide research proposals and help finalize them. The institute will also create different health databases and try to promote joint educational and research projects with national and international bodies.
