TUMSPR News: Dr. Jon Linkous who was here at Tehran University of Medical Sciences to participate in a 2-day symposium on Electronic Hospitals and Telemedicine expresses his impression about the symposium and the level of expertise in this field in an interview with him on October 12, 2010.
The two-day symposium on Electronic Hospitals and Telemedicine held at Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) came to a close on Tuesday afternoon October 12, 2010. The symposium was participated by academics from Iran and some guests from the United States among them the authorities of the American Telemedicine Society and those of the University of New Mexico. The following is an interview with Dr. Jon D. Linkous, the American Telemedicine Association's chief executive officer.
On a question about the objectives of the trip to Iran and participation in the symposium, Dr. Linkous says:
-- We look forward to any opportunity to go and talk to other folks involved in telemedicine and share our experience and learn from you as well.
-- How do you evaluate Iranian researchers?
Well, we’ve just arrived, so, we’re just learning but the one I’ve hears so far, [I was] very --impressed with the level of expertise that you have in medicine, certainly here in Tehran and it sounds like throughout the country.
-- What’s your opinion about telemedicine?
-- Well, I’m just learning about the telemedicine program here in Iran and I am surprised that how much you’re doing. I had no idea so much was going on here, so, it’s a pleasant surprise to see that there’s so much is going on right now.
