TUMSPR News: Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) and University of Tehran (UT) will hold a joint workshop with Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) on university ranking on October 3, 2010.
Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) and University of Tehran (UT) will hold a joint workshop with Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) on university ranking at TUMS headquarters on October 3, 2010.
The opening remarks will be made by TUMS chancellor, Dr. Bagher Larijani, the welcoming remarks by UT chancellor, Dr. Farhad Rahbar. The lecturers will be given as follows:
Iran's Scientific Production in Medical Sciences: a comparative study by Dr. Ghaneie, the vice-minister for research,
Building International Brand Recognition by Dr. Mandy Mok from QS Asia,
Using Ranking to Drive Internal Quality Improvements by Dr. Kevin Downing from QS and City University of Hong Kong and
Islamic World Citation Center by Dr. Djafar Mehrdadthe Director of Regional Information Center for Science and Technology from the Ministry of Sciences, Research and Technology.
Challenges of World University Rankings: a Critical View by Dr. Kayvan Kousha from University of Tehran
Open discussions will follow the lectures.
In the last two years, TUMS in partnership with UT have achieved world ranks below 500, the best being in 2009 (368) but the categorical rank in life sciences, which includes biomedicine, has had an upward trend in the past two years
