The Second Revolution in the State’s Health System

TUMSPR News: The head of policy-making council of the Iranian Ministry of Health, Dr. Bagher Larijani, called the family physician and referral system development another revolution in the health system at the state’s medical universities chancellors meeting on April 16, 2010.

He also called the most important approach of the council utilization of international and domestic evidence for policy-making, recruitment of the elite in the council in different subject areas and consideration of Iranian and Islamic values for materializing the 20-year plan of the country for 2025.
He then referred to the formation of health networks across the country in nearly three decades ago as the first revolution and development of family physician and referral system as the second in the making by the health ministry. He said that the vice-minister for health would propose an upgrade to the earlier health networks in six months.
Predicting the chronic pattern of diseases and an aging population in 2025, TUMS chancellor said that predictions of the needs had to be surveyed and plans be made to address those needs accordingly.
