TUMSPR News: Tehran University of Medical Sciences has topped other state-run and open medical universities in Iran as the latest Webometric ranking of world universities is released in July 2010.
Based on the vice-chancellor for Research, Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) has gained the second rank among all academic institutions and the first rank among medical universities in Iran regarding the latest webometric ranking of world universities for July 2010. University of Tehran has ranked first again.
TUMS has repeated the same rank in two consecutive rankings by the Cybermetrics Lab, a research group belonging to the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones CientÃficas (CSIC).
Ferdowsi University of Mashhad (rank 3) has overtaken Sharif University (rank 4) and Shiraz University of Medical Sciences (rank 5) has edged two old rivals, Shahid Beheshti (rank 9) and Iran (11) Universities of Medical Sciences. Isfahan University of Medical Sciences which once was second to UT till February 2010 and gained the 9th position then is on recovery line and has the 6th position presently.
TUMS which has the world’s 1182nd position has done better regarding the February 2010 ranking 1286, but UT seems to have gone down the ladder from 873 in February to 899 in July 2010.
