Health Vice-minister Calls Last Year’s Health Week Achievements a Success

TUMSPR News: In a news conference, Dr. Imami-razavi, the Iranian health vice-minister for treatment, called the ratification of the society’s health promotion in late 2009 a success.
Based on a report by the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, Dr. Imami-razavi, the Iranian health vice-minister for treatment, called the ratification of the “health promotion bill” in late 2009 one of the most important achievements of the Health Week 2009 in Iran.
The former dean of TUMS School of Medicine said “the last year’s theme for Health Week 2009 was "Health in Disasters" which ended in a lower number of casualties, especially from road accidents which was made possible by intersectoral cooperation”. He hoped this year’s celebration of the week bring about decreases in risks threatening urban health.
The newly appointed health vice-minister for treatment who is the head of the headquarters for holding Health Week 2010 in Iran, said that according to the latest census, the picture of urban : rural ratio has changed dramatically and it is 70 : 30 now compared to 40 : 60 twenty years ago inflicting a larger burden of non-communicable diseases, such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, chronic renal failure, etc, on the health system.
