Iranian Health Minister Highlights Health System Achievements at the 2nd Congress for Iranian-born Scholars

TUMSPR News: The Iranian Health Minister, Dr. Vahid-dastjerdi explained the health and medical advance at the second day of the 2nd congress for Iranian-born Scholars on August 3, 2010.
On the second day of the congress for Iranian-born Scholars, Dr. Vahid-dastjerdi highlighted the achievements of the health system in the past three decades and said the ministry with 46 medical sciences universities was the only ministry in the world that is responsible for medical education too, hinting at the two-way flow of information from the ministry to the research centers across the country and vice-versa for the betterment of health care.
Another achievement in this regard was the health services provided by more than 8000 health houses and the [recent] introduction of 2000 family doctors into the health system.
The minister later hinted at the increase in life expectancy from earlier figures to 73 and 71 for women and men respectively and linked the increase to higher standards of care today and production of a great number of vaccines domestically.
Regarding the scientific research outputs, the minister put Iran ahead of China and Korea for the rapid rise in the relevant indices.
Finally, Vahid-dastjerdi said the ministry was ready to help Iranians who were living abroad and introduced the Higher Council of Iranians site.
