TUMSPR News: The chancellor for Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS), Dr. Bagher Larijani, in a message to the students, faculty members and staff of the university has congratulated the Iranian New Year.
Dr. Bagher Larijani, the chancellor for Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS), in a message to the students, faculty members and the staff of the university congratulated the Iranian New Year which is on the 20th March or the first day of spring.
Referring to the coincidence of the birthdate of the prophet Muhammad and the spring, the chancellor has appreciated the undertakings of the faculty members, the students and the employees of the University for their year-long efforts which resulted in invaluable achievements in education, research and health services the university renders to the population under its coverage. The chancellor has then exemplified the University’s achievement in research for the 7th consecutive year.
He has also addressed the steady progress in education and logistic development of the university in the 2009 – 2010 and has exemplified the establishment of the School of Traditional Medicine and School of Advanced Medical Technologies, resolution of the challenges for the establishment of the School of Nutrition, a virtual school and a job creation faculty and the development of the international branch of the University for a more solid presence in the region and international arenas. Revision of the current educational curriculum, development of a distance learning organization, empowerment of the faculty members and readiness for revising the current medical education have been done with great success.
He also has underlined the importance of the efforts leading to finalization of the University’s Scientific Plan and the great help the faculties of the greatest higher education institution have provided in the preparation of the state’s scientific plan in the health sector.
Completion of the construction of one of the largest faculties, Faculty of Dentistry and Children’s Medical Center, Chamran Sports Facility have also been the fruits borne by the University.
The chancellor has finally thanked each and every member of this community which helped celebrate the 75th year of its establishment in the present campus.
Praising the efforts put forward by the students and employees of the University, the chancellor has called for the realization of the institute’s scientific plan which is a part of a larger national picture.
The chancellor, accompanied by the governing bodies of the University will have a meeting with all the students, faculty members and the staff for Nowruz and New Year’s greetings on April 4, 2010.
