Commemorating Dr. Abbas Shafiee’s 50 Years of Scientific and Managerial Undertaking

TUMSPR News: Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) commemorated Dr. Abbas Shafiee’s fifty years of scientific and managerial undertaking on May 20, 2010.
Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) commemorated Dr. Abbas Shafiee’s fifty years of scientific and managerial undertaking on May 20, 2010.
Born in Qom, Iran in 1937, Dr. Abbas Sahfiee graduated from Pharmacy School in University in 1962 and continued his studies in pharmaceutical chemistry in Columbia University where he got his masters and doctoral degrees in the field in 1965 and 1968, respectively. He accomplished postdoctoral degree in University of Chicago between the years 1968 -69.
Joining University of Tehran’s School of Pharmacy as an assistant professor, Shafiee has served the university since 1971.
In his commemoration, some high profile governmental and academic authorities such as Dr. Velayati, the former Iranian FM, Dr. Marandi, the newly appointed head of Academy for Medical Sciences, Mr. Aboutorabi, the deputy speaker of the parliament, and many other faculty members and students were present.
Presenting a plaque of honor to him, Dr. Bagher Larijani, TUMS chancellor, called Dr. Shafiee the architect of Pharmacy School and modern pharmacy in Iran.
