TUMSPR News: Dr. Bagher Larinjani, TUMS Chancellor, will be awarded for the control of diabetes at WHO’s 57th Regional Committee meeting in Cairo, Egypt on October 3, 2010.


TUMS Chancellor, Dr. Bagher Larinjani, will be awarded for the control of diabetes at WHO’s 57th Regional Committee meeting in Cairo, Egypt on October 3, 2010.

The nomination had been made earlier in 2009 by the Foundation of the State of Kuwait for the Control of Cancer, Cardiovascular Diseases and Diabetes in the Eastern Mediterranean Region, which is a non-governmental organization established in January 2004, as indicated in the letter to the chancellor by the World Health Organization’s (WHO) representative in Iran, D. Ambrogio Manenti.

The letter reads as follows:

SUBJECT: FOUNDATION OF THE STATE OF KUWAIT PRIZE FOR THE CONTROL OF CANCER, CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASES AND DIABETES IN THE EASTERN MEDITERRANEAN REGION

September 6, 2010

Dear Dr. Larijani,

Reference is made to the above mentioned subject and the letter of 20 December 2009 addressed to you wherein you were advised of your nomination for the 4th Award of the Sate of Kuwait Prize for the control of Cancer, Cardiovascular Diseases and Diabetes in the Eastern Mediterranean for 2010.

As indicated in the attached invitation letter, the award will be presented by the chairman of the 57th Session of the Regional Committee scheduled to meet in the Regional Office in Cairo from 3 to 6 October 2010. The award ceremony is expected to be held on Sunday, 3rd of October during the opening session during which you may wish to make a short speech or statement (not to exceed 5 minutes).

As time is running short, it would be appreciated if you please let us know about your availability at your earliest possible. Should you be unable to attend the presentation award ceremony, the prize would be handed to a person representing you from among your country’s delegation.
