Dentists' Day Celebration Held, Minister of Health Attending

TUMSPR News: The annual celebration of Dentists Day was held in Iran at Milad Tower in Tehran and the Minister of Health and a large number or dentists attend the event. (H)
Based on a report by the Public Relations of TUMS School of Dentistry, Dr Vahid-dastjerdi, the minister of health and medical education congratulated Dentists' Day and wished both health and success for all the attendees. She added that the new year that has begun by the slogan "more effort, more work" has started with more congratulations for dentists.
She said that the number of dentists surpasses 222,000 in the country and this is a good standard for dentist : population ratio (1 : 3000).
The minister asserted that the ratio depicts that the country has a good dentistry education and preventive services.
She wanted dentists to be preventive rather than curative and consider the basic problems of teeth and oral hygiene greatly, as they are cheaper and more effective. In addition, she emphasized that teeth and oral Hygiene result in a lower number of heart diseases.
Later on, Dr. Shahaboldin-Sadr, the president of the Iranian Medical Council Organization took the stage and wished success for all attendees. He then said that the aims of holding these seminars were to create an opportunity for communication among colleagues and and the opportunity to appreciate the values of dentistry profession.
He mentioned that supreme leader's saying "more effort, more work" was to solve the problems in different parts of the health system. Then he mentioned the importance of health indicators in the country and said all medical professions were trying to improve the health in society and everyone who tried to solve the problems in this subject has done something holy. He declared that the main duty of the medical society was to defend both patients and physicians rights.
Afterwards, he emphasized the need for a move to recognize health in its own essence in terms of giving support and hoped all governmental organizations and the parliament support the health sector as its progress indicated the country's progress.
