In his opening lecture, the head of TUMS Public Relations, Dr. Gatmiri, congratulated the students and their parents and said the joy for the parents did not equal any other thing in the world and notified the students to better realize the opportunity given to them to study in the most prestigious higher education institution in the country and lit the way in their future scientific life by a quote from Imam Sadiq (SA) which warns people to base their scientific rhetoric on hard evidence and run away from loose facts as though they run from a ferocious lion.
Drawing the students’ attention to the history of modern medicine in Iran, the secretariat of TUMS Alumni Office, said that the University has been in the present location when the parliament passed its order 76 years ago but he added that the Medical School was more than 158 years old if one took into account its establishment from the Dar-al-Funoon period, regardless of the 1000 year history of teaching medicine in ancient Persia.
