TUMS Gearing Up to Celebrate its 75th Anniversary

TUMSPR News: Tehran University of Medical Sciences is gearing up to celebrate its 75th establishment anniversary on March 3, 2010.


Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) which is the largest university in Iran was established in 1934. School of Medicine was the first school to be established at theUniversity of Tehran in the modern time. In 1940, all the hospitals in Tehran were affiliated to the school. In 1986, all the state’s medical sciences universities and the health system were organized under the Ministry of Health and Medical Education. Therefore, Tehran University of Medical Sciences originated from the mother university, UT. Presently, TUMS is composed of 9 schools, 47 research centers, 17 hospitals, three district health systems with a coverage of about 4.2 million people, and nearly 10000 students and nearly the same number of personnel.

To rightly prepare for 75th anniversary of the University, TUMS chancellor, Dr. Bagher Larijani, has called upon all the Public Relations staff of all hospitals, research centers, health networks, etc which are moderated by TUMS Public Relations Office managed by Dr. Gatmiri, for a coordination meeting on January 20, 2010.
