TUMSPR News: Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) chancellor, Dr. Bagher Larijani, accompanied by Dr. Jdafarian, one of his consultants and the former dean of the faculty of medicine, attended TUMS International Relations Office to inaugurate its newly appointed head, Dr. Ghazi-khansari on September 27, 2009.
Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) chancellor, Dr. Bagher Larijani, accompanied by Dr. Jdafarian, one of his consultants and the former dean of the faculty of medicine, attended TUMS International Relations Office to to introduce its newly appointed head, Dr. Ghazi-khansari on September 27, 2009.
TUMS chancellor, Dr. Larijani, introducing Dr. Mahmoud Ghazi-khansari as the new head of TUMS International Relations Office, believed the bulk of activities done for the promotion of the university during Dr. Marzieh Vahid-dastjerdi’s term as the head of the office have been remarkable but any change will necessitate new activities to be undertaken and Dr. Ghazi-khansari would be a good choice to help accomplish them.
The chancellor emphasized the role the office should assume not only regionally but internationally. He believed there was a good reason to do so as the university is already producing more than 40% of the scientific output domestically.
Additionally, the chancellor emphasized on a more solid cooperation of scientific communities and universities outside the country especially in the ones that Iran has had a brilliant history such as medical ethics and traditional medicine. He also hinted at the need for a more focused and more oriented academic research and study opportunities and invitation of scientific figures for research within TUMS 47 research centers.
Dr. Ghazi-khansari, too, hoped he could promote academic relations with world-rank universities and create study opportunities for the faculty members and help them actively participate in international congresses.
