Recent Positional Changes at TUMS

TUMSPR News: The recent changes made at Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) positions during September 2009 if have not been sweeping, they surely have been remarkable enough to wait and see changes they will bring about.
This all ensued Dr. Vahid-Dastjerdi’s, a TUMS faculty member who was the head of TUMS International Relations Office, promotion to ministerial position at the Ministry of Health and Medical Education. Now, Dr. Mahmoud Ghazi Khansari , a pharmacologist and a diploma holder of Louisina State University and the head of TUMS basic sciences will lead the office.
Another important change has been at TUMS Pharmacy School. By Dr. Larijani’s appointment, Dr. Dinarvand, the former vice-minister for Food and Drug at the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, will replace Dr. Abbass Shafiee, the former dean of the school. Shafiee himself has been appointed as the chancellor’s consultant and a member of the steering committee of the university. Dr. Shafiee got his PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Columbia University in 1965.
And Dr. Mohammad-reza Zarrindast has been appointed as the dean of TUMS School of Advanced Medical Technologies. He replaced Dr. Hossein Keshavarz. Zarrindast recently was among the one percent scientists of the world.
Previously, School of Medicine and International branch of TUMS on Kish Island had undergone changes at their top positions too.
