Date: 6/1/2008
TUMSPR News: Two valedictory and introductory sessions ware held respectively for the outgoing and incoming deputies at the Ministry of Health.
In a report by Fars News Agency, the minister of Health, Dr. Bagher Lankarani, while appreciating the undertakings of Dr. Alavian, the former deputy of the ministry, said that Alavian had done his best to prevent corruption and not giving in to unnecessary privileges in the past 1000 days.
The minister added that "I have known Dr. Alavian for about two decades and I have worked closely with him. He could nicely manage the deputy of health in a way that it had always a forward move during this period". “Today we have to say good bye to Dr. Alavian, because of laws and lawful decisions of the state, but he will continue his cooperation with the ministry as the minister's counselor", he said.
The minster continued that, "The promotion of all health indicators of the county is due to the 1000-day undertakings of Dr. Alavian. There were 27 new projects at the deputy of health in this period but the most important one was that he stood against corruption in all forms and he didn’t give any unnecessary privileges to anybody; something that some people one thousand days ago suggested it would be impossible to do without in the deputy”. There were people in the past that signed public tariffs in the morning but they themselves charged a few times more in the afternoon [in their private offices] and used to denounce the orders that they themselves had signed". He said that, "Making decisions in the deputy was not based on personal wishes and we didn’t discriminate people regarding law enforcement and it was sincere services that blessed our work, in comparison to the seemingly higher activities done in the past but less fruitful than the present ones".
About Dr. Imami –Razavi, the Minister of Health said that, "Dr. Imami-Razavi is also one of the servicemen in the line of revolution, with a brilliant history in guard keeping the revolution’s values, and regarding the short term of his responsibility in the ninth government, the financial problems and scattered guardianship in the health domain, he could have refused this heavy responsibility." He said that “In these one-thousand days we didn’t hesitate to enforce low and we do not regret the way we accomplished our goals. We can not idealize but we should accept our financial and legal limitations”, he ended his speech.
Dr. Alavian, the former deputy for health of the ministry, in his speech said, “In the past one thousand days, I tried to abstain from politic, ignore friendships and for legally doing the job, make new friends. Therefore, I expect the managers and experts of the deputy not to desert the minister and the 9th government and work as well as before". He continued his speech by saying that, "We are running out of time for providing service to people, therefore we should double our efforts."
About his successor he said, "My acquaintanceship with Dr. Razavi, goes back to 20 years ago. He is a thoughtful, hardworking and religious man, who has headed Imam Khomeini Complex Hospital, the largest hospital of the country, and has been the dean of TUMS Faculty of Medicine and I hope he will be successful in solving the health system’s problems”. He brought his speech to an end by saying that he had not had any animosity with anybody and in case his decisions had hurt anybody he asked for forgiveness.
Dr. Hassan Imami-Razavi, the new Health Deputy of the ministry appreciated Dr. Alavian’s services and said that "These positions are not important but the importance lies within God’s and people’s approval of the responsibilities we hold."
