Presidents of Cornell University, USA & TUMS Meet for Cooperation Interests

TUMSPR News: Dr. David J. Skorton, the president of Cornell University, and Dr. Bagher Larijani, the president of Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) met at TUMS headquarters on November 19, 2008 to explore ways of collaboration and research exchange.

On November 19, 2008, Dr. Skorton, the President of Cornell University since 2006, visited Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) and met with TUMS' Chancellor and vice-chancellors of the University to explore ways of cooperation.
Dr. Larijani in his introductory briefing, touched its historical background and then introduced the university with its 9 faculties, 16 hospitals, 47 research centers, 1260 academic faculty members and 9000 students, the new world rank, health care hierarchy, its international branches in Tehran and on Kish Island.
Dr. Skorton has been in Iran for the past 4 days along with a delegation, among them Dr. Robert M. Berdahl, the President of the Association of American Universities (AAU), to assess ways of cooperation and scientific exchange with Iranian Universities regarding the larger picture of his objectives of the trip. The rest of the group were in Isfahan at the moment and Dr. Berdhal and Dr Skorton had traveled to Tehran "to take the opportunity to visit TUMS" as Dr. Skorton put it.
