TUMSPR News: A joint videoconference focusing on the management of four cases took place between Tehran University of Medical Sciences Faculty of Dentistry and UK’s Cardiff University on Jan 26, 2009.
TUMS Dentistry faculty’s department of endodontics held a joint videoconference with the counterparting Dentistry School of Cardiff University.
The opening speech was by TUMS Dentistry Faculty’s retired Professor Ghazi Nouri, active in private practice presently and still fond of research and mentoring students.
The professor called it an honor to open the session and thanked professor Dummer to be Dr. Nikoufar’s mentor there. Then, he presented an introduction to endodontics and finally hoped the two schools establish faculty exchange programs to share their expertise and knowledge with a bigger audience.
Dr. Hadi Asadian, a third-year resident of endodontics, presented three cases and the approaches employed in their treatment plan and finally presented the fourth case for discussion to explore the best treatment approach.
Professor Paul Dummer, the Vice-Dean of the school, Professor Jeremy Haze and a handful of students there, including Dr. Nikoufar participated in the discussion from Cardiff. Professor Dummer upon presentation called the presentations and the implemented treatments as impressing.
Videoconferences of this type have been held for some time by the faculty and TUMS office of International Relations has been a great help in holding them.
