Health Minister Visits TUMS Intensive Care Unit for Influenza Type A Patients at TUMS Imam Khomeini Hospital

TUMSPR News: The health minister, Dr. Marzieh Vahid-dastjerdi, accompanied by the vice-minister for health, Dr. Imami-razavi, visited the intensive care unit for influenza type A patients at TUMS Imam Khomeini Hospital on November 29, 2009.


Dr. Marzieh Vahid-dastjerdi, Iran health minister, accompanied by Dr. Imami-razavi, the vice-minister for health, visited the intensive care unit for influenza type A patients at Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) Imam Khomeini complex Hospital on November 29, 2009. The minister followed the progresses made in the treatment process of the hospitalized patients there.

She later participated in a news conference about the ministry’s programs for the prevention and treatment of the disease and said that there were no problems about the number of hospital beds [it is about 60 in the capital] considered for flu patients and they would increase the number in near future. Dastjerdi believed the 98 - 99 percent of the patients did not need hospitalization and said that new waves of the disease were on the way and the ministry had to be prepared for them.

Imami-razavi informed that the number of beds regarded for flu patients were 60 in six different hospitals across Tehran and the average number of days for hospital stay had been around 10 days. Picture gallery.
