France's UPMC Authorities at TUMS Tehran Heart Center for Scientific Ties

TUMSPR News: The largest France University's vice-president for international affairs Dr. Gilbert Béréziat and the head of its international affairs, Ms. Lopez visited TUMS Tehran Heart center on June 1, 2009. The delegation traveled to Iran for developing academic ties with Tehran Iranian universities.
France'sPierre & Marie Curie University's (UPMC) vice-president and the director of international affairs, respectively Professor Gilbert Béréziat and Ms. Sabine Lopez visited Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) Tehran Heart Center after meeting with TUMS chancellor, Dr. Bagher Larijani, on June 1, 2009.
The manager of Tehran Heart Center, Dr. Hadj-Ghasem, accompanied by Dr. Hesameddin Abbasi, the director or research department at the hospital, met with the French delegation.
Hadj-Ghasemi put the number of beds at the hospital to 550 and the number of treatment rooms at 10 with six cath labs. Being established in 2002, the hospital which is a research center and publishes a scientific journal of its own, has more than 30 residents and around 10 fellows and it has been a center of excellence for internal cardiology studies and treatment.
Hadj-Ghasemi said the hospital with more than 4000 surgeries, 10000 angiographies, 10000 angioplasties and more than 500 electrophysiology procedures per year had strong ties with international institutions in US, UK, Poland, etc and well-known figures had been in close contact with researchers there when Professor Béréziat made inquiries about cooperation with foreign researchers and institutions, especially the French ones. The vice-president of UPMC said that despite previous cooperations and visits, this time the group was here to establish more academic and institutional ties with the center.
