The regional advisor for Child and Adolescent Health (CAH) at the World Health Organization (WHO) in the Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office (EMRO), DR. Suzanne Frhoud, attended Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) Children's Medical Center to closely observe the Integrated Management of Children Illnesses (IMCI) lessons being taught to medical stagers and interns. This so-called pre-service education or training is used to refer to any structured activity aiming at developing or reinforcing knowledge and skills before a health care professional enters public health service or adopts a private practice.

In July 26 to August 1, 2008, TUMS hosted health care authorities from EMRO region to use their expertise to develop IMCI package and prepare a structured management toolkit and this recent trip ensuing the conference, aims to make sure the program is implemented swiftly.

TUMS Children's Medical Center has been chosen for the project's pilot study.

In a session held at the center Farhoud discussed the challenges and the professors voiced their suggestions.
