Afghan Counter-Narcotics Minister’s Visit to the Iranian National Center for Addiction Studies

TUMSPR News: In a report by the public relations of the Iranian National Center for Addiction Studies (INCAS), a delegation headed by Gen. Khodaidad, the Afghan minister of counter-narcotics, paid a visit to the center on May 6, 2008.


The authorities present at the meeting included General Khodaidad, the Afghan minister of counter-narcotics, Homayoun Feiz-zadeh, the secretery of the ministry, Zolmai Afraeie, the spokesman, Dinparast, the counsellor of the office, Dr. Saeed Sefatian, Iran’s Drug Control Headquarter’s general director for rehabilitation, Mohammad-Ali Zarei-Kousha, the headquarter’s international relations member, Dr. Mohammad Bagher Saber-Zafarghandi, Dr. Omran Razaghi, the head of INCAS, Dr. Azarakhsh Mokri, the INCAS deputy for education, and some other authorities.

The report adds that, Dr. Razaghi explained the goals and programs of the center and pinpointed the areas for joint efforts, regarding supply reduction, harm reduction, etc.

Dr. Mokri, while briefing the delegation on the educational activities of the center, declared the center’s readiness for enrolling Afghan physicians and medical teams for the courses it holds.

The report adds that Gen. Khodaidad, while talking about the historical and deep-rooted ties between the two countries, showed his interest for the center’s programs in harm reduction, treatment of narcotic addicts and educational courses for Afghan physicians and medical teams through the Iranian embassy in Afghanistan. He also hoped to see INCAS authorities for the mentioned cooperations in Afghanistan in near future.

INCAS is a research center under Tehran University of Medical Sciences.
