TUMS Ranks First in Research Activities among Peer Institutions in Iran for the 7th Year in a Row

TUMSPR News: Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) repeated its achievements in research activities among peer universities domestically for the seventh year in a row as published by the Research Deputy of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education for the year 2008.


Based on the recent ranking released by the “Deputy of Research” of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) ranked first in research activities among class A universities in Iran for the seventh year in a row. Four main dimensions used for the recent ranking include: Governance, empowerment, knowledge production and student research.

The recent ranking which evaluated the research activities of the state’s universities for the year 2008, places TUMS ahead of rival universities with a remarkable score of 47866. With a noticeable distance from TUMS, Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences ranked second with a score of 27529 and Shiraz University of Medical Sciences ranked third by 16017.

Comparing the evaluated variables, TUMS allocated budget for research is 2.06% while those of Shahid Beheshti and Shiraz University of medical Sciences are 0.06% and 0.02 respectively.
