Tajikistan Health Minister & TUMS Chancellor Meet

TUMSPR News: Dr. Nosratollah Salimof, the health minister of Tajikistan, and his accompanying delegate met with Dr. Larijani, the chancellor for Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS).
Dr. Salimof, the health minister of Tajikistan, and his accompanying delegate met with Dr. Larijani, the chancellor for Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) on March 10, 2008.
In this visit, Dr. Salimof while thanking for the occasion, briefed the participants on the general state of his country and its educational status and asked TUMS chancellor to broaden collaboration with Tajikistan. He said that the Medical University of Avicenna at Dushanbe is pursuing educational activities and provision of health services and TUMS with its vast research and educational resources to have more scientific exchanges with the state.
Dr. Salimof said that the common lingual and cultural backgrounds of the two countries and the ease of travelling compared to western countries beseeched for cooperations.
Dr. Larijani by reviewing TUMS capabilities, especially those of the School of Medicine, talked on the potentials of the university for the transfer of knowledge on short-term and long-term courses and at Ph.D. and postgraduate levels to Tajikistan. He said financial matters were the secondary priorities and the principle lay within collabration but financial solutions could be achieved at international levels by cooperating with EMRO and ECO. He suggested the formation of a committee to formulate executive strategies for the cooperations.
Dr. Salimof in another part of his speech talked about his visit with Dr. Lankarani, the Iranian Minister of Health and Medical Education, and said an agreement would be signed and there they would specify the cooperations and hoped that by signing it the executive strategies be more explored.
At the end of the session cultural gifts, representing the two countries, were exchanged.
