The Secretary of the International Medical Ethics Congress, Grand Ayatollah Makrem-Shirazi Meet

TUMS/ PRENS*: Dr. Imami-Razvi, the dean of Medical Faculty of TUMS and the secretary of the International Medical Ethics Congress and some of the executive committee met Ayatollah Makarem-Shirazi on February 14, 2008.
In this visit, Dr. Emami-Razavi explained the build up of activities for holding the congress and the Ayatollah while congratulating the executive committee on the issue, hoped that the congress will benefit all patients globally.
The ayatollah continued his sayings by pointing out that in Islam, ethics is mingled with all topics and all stages of life but on medical issues, Islam has vast resources. He said in Islam not only medical doctors, but also other groups, such as nurses, visitors and all those involved with patient/s have been taken into account.
The ayatollah said by considering ethical aspects and the responsibility of medical doctors the patients’ moral may improve and this may help him gain his health. But on the other hand, lack of in responsibility may jeopardise patients’ lives.
In the end, the grand ayatollah hoped that ethics be regarded in all aspects of our life, our relationships, economical issues, official and all respects of medicine.
He then answered the questions raised by the visitors.
The International congress of medical ethics will be held in Tehran on April16-18, 2008.
