The Second International Medical Ethics Congress and Grand Ayatollah Sobhani’s Comments

TUMS/ PRENS: The scientific secretary of the second International Medical Ethics Congress, Dr. Imami-Razavi met Grand Ayatollah Sobhani and briefed him on the activities in progress to hold the congress.


In this session, Dr. Imami-Razavi reported the undertaken activities and the ones in progress.

The Grand Ayatollah first thanked the visitors and said that in many entries to religious jurisprudence, subjects including, prayers, fasting, Hajj, etc the views of medical doctors, as experts of the field, are important to jurisprudence and there is a mutual need for cooperation.

Then the ayatollah expressed his delight about the subjects covered in Medical Ethics in Iran and its domestication according to Islamic ethics but not merely based on western medical ethics. He not only hinted at the theoretical aspects of the subject but also he stressed on the practical side of medical ethics too and its constitutionalization in the minds and behavior of medical doctors. Ayatollah Sobhani knew the attention to the protagonists as the real models of medical ethics and introducing them to the doctors’ society of importance.

Finally, the ayatollah answered the participants’ questions.
