Revision of Promotion Guidelines of Faculty Members Is A Necessity

Tehran University of Medical Sciences/ Public relations: Dr.Jafarian executive consultant of the university chancellor emphasized on the prominent role of promotion guidelines of faculty members in their professional progressions.


Speaking in the symposium of the promotion guidelines of faculty members as a committe member of revising this guideline, he said it's necessary to have a totally revised edition of this document to determine clearly the ways of promotion for our faculty members and also the right path toward having more improved and effective medical universities.

Dr.Jafarian, associate professor of surgery department pointed to the evaluation criteria of the present guideline as its main weakness and stated: As we have different tasks and expectations from our colleagues in different departments and units of the university, naturally they must be evaluated in different ways, but this fact has been neglected now.

He also said the current guideline lacks the essential revisions to respond the scientific demands of the universities and the whole country at the moment.

Dr. jafarian added the evaluation of researches in this protocol has a better position, but it's not precisely defined to include exact details and must be revised from the point of qualitative definitions, too.

He mentioned in his speech some of the basic topics that will be enclosed in the future revision of the promotion guideline of faculty members of the medical universities of the country and expressed hope that the revision committee receive various viewpoints from authorities and faculty members to upgrade the present guideline as exact as possible.

In this session, Dr.lankarani minister of health and the other official members of the committee participated, too.
