Date: 9/4/2007

Tehran University of Medical Sciences/ Public Relations: Secretary of medical training council, Dr. Mohammad Ali Mohagheghi, said: "executive regulations for facilitating of elite students postgraduate studies was approved".

Facilitating continuation of studies for the elite is one of the rules that was approved in 66th meeting of medical training council.

According to this new rule, secretariat of this council is responsible for presenting the executive regulation of these facilitations, Dr. Mohammad Ali Mohagheghi said.

This executive regulation was codified by secretariat and is passing final stage of scrutiny at the moment and will be officially valid from current academic year (86-87, he reminded.

In fact, this new regulation will not affect the share of other students who take residency exam ordinarily, so universities can attract their elite students for medical residencies without formalities.

In Iran, residency courses need entrance exam, but according to the regulation, persons who have the excellent qualifications, can enter to medical proficiency term without taking exam, secretary of medical training council emphasized.

There is a ranking among universities of the country which is being accomplished very soon. Cooperating between universities and health ministry is necessary. Also, the results will be announced clearly, and we consider probable objection, he reminded.
