Iran & Australia Will Open Cooperative Clinic of Addiction Therapy for women

TUMS/PRNS: The executional phase of cooperative research study between two countries Iran and Australia started to show effectiveness of maintainance therapy with Methadon for female addicts in the prisons.


This coopertion between Iran's National Center for Addiction Studies (INCAS) of TUMS, and New South university of Australia is facilitated by Institute of Perspolis which is one of the Iranian NGO's active in private sector helping the authorities reduce addictions in society .

According to the latest report from INCAS an agreement is perceived between various organs involved in the addiction therapy in the country, and the first phase of this research is going to be performed as a trail of maintainance therapy with Methadon for female addicts in one sample prison under supervision of Iran's organization of prisons.

These women treated in prison will continue their therapy hence in clinics of Perspolis Institute which are considered private clinics active in the same type of treatment for addiction.

A similar study for addict men in prisons has been performed from 5 years ago and shown to be efficient.

In the final session of this cooperative study program Dr. Mokri from INCAS, Dr.Kasrayi from AIDS research center of Iran, Dr.Salimi as the conductor of the research, Dr. Taleyi and Ms. Sadegh reprsentatives of Perspolis Institute participated and Dr. Mohsenifar was elected as the director of this joint study project between two countries.
