Health Minister Pays an Unscheduled Visit to Two TUMS Female Students' Dormitories

TUMSPR News: The minister of Health of Health, Dr. Marzieh Vahid Dastjerdy, accompanied by Tehran University of Medical Sciences Chancellor (TUMS), Dr. Bagher Larijani, paid an unscheduled visit to two TUMS female students' dormitories on Thursday November 12, 2009.
Dr. Marzieh Vahid Dastjerdy, the newly appointed minister of Health and Medical Education, accompanied by Tehran University of Medical Sciences Chancellor (TUMS), Dr. Bagher Larijani, Dr. Mohaghegh, the vice-chancellor for Student Affairs and Dr. Pakdel, the manager of TUMS dormitories, paid an unscheduled visit to two dormitories of the university in Thursday evening on November 12, 2009.
The two girls dormitories were home to post-grad students.
Inquiring about the condition at the dormitories, the minister engaged in close talks with the students and she finally asked the authorities for immediate action to satisfactorily resolve the problems.
Criticizing the per capita budget for the state students, Dr. Dastjerdi said that TUMS was spending 2 – 3 times the budget set for student welfare and believed the state's student budget needed an increase to respond to the needs and bring about more welfare for students and more satisfaction for the authorities.
On the visit, Dastjerdi said: "Fortunately, most of the students had access to the internet and the rooms were spacious and there were no problems with the food, and students were relatively content with the services". She promised to visit other dormitories for Shahid Beheshti and Iran universities in the capital in near future and planned to visit other dormitories in the governmental visits to other provinces.
One of the state's national TVs, channels 3, covered the visit.
