General Director of EMRO/WHO Was Donated the Title “Affiliated Faculty” of TUMS

Formal ceremony of donating the title affiliated faculty of Tehran university of medical sciences to Dr. Gezairy general director of the regional office of World Health Organization was held Sunday evening, 2nd of December 2007 in central building of the university.
Dr. Hossein Abdel-Razzaq Gezairy who received this certificate from Dr. Larijani chancellor of Tehran university of medical sciences at the moment holds the responsibility of eastern Mediterranean regional office of WHO and previously had been dean of a well known medical school in Saudi Arabia.
In this ceremony, Dr. Larijani appreciated the health services provided by General Director of EMRO/WHO and his colleagues particularly in the field of Medical education and expressed hope to extend the academic ties with Dr. Gezairy as an international personality who can effectively aid Tehran University of Medical Sciences in educational promotion.
Also, Dr. Gezairy stated thanks for this ceremony and said : I am delighted to be an affiliated faculty member of Tehran University of Medical Sciences, because Iran has been successful in promoting some of the valuable health indices prominently like control of birth rate, MMR, NMR, AIDS control in prisons and creation of an extensive system of contagious diseases management.
He also explained the current activities of EMRO/WHO and emphasized on the necessity of more intensive programs to capture the growing pattern of non-contagious diseases like diabetes and cardiovascular problems in the region.
