EMRO’s General Director Formally Accepts to be an Affiliated Faculty of TUMS

Tehran University of Medical Sciences / English news service: The general director of WHO/EMRO, Dr. Gezairy, formally declared his acceptance of the offer to be an affiliated professor of the Tehran University of Medical Sciences.
The general director of WHO/EMRO, Dr. Gezairy, formally declared his acceptance of the offer to be an affiliated professor of the Tehran University of Medical Sciences.
Following Dr. Gezairy’s, the general director of the World Health Organization’s Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean (WHO/EMRO), visit to Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) on December 2, 2007 and Dr. Larijani’s, TUMS Chancellor, offer to appoint him as an affiliated professor of the university, Dr. Gezairy formally declared his acceptance of the offer through a letter sent to the chancellor on December 13, 2007. The letter reads:
Your Excellency Professor Larijani,
I have the pleasure to write to Your Excellency to express my deep thanks to you personally and your respected colleagues at the Governing Board of the Tehran University of Medical Sciences for offering me the appointment as an Affiliated Professor, your letter dated 1 November 2007 refers.
I have the honour to declare my acceptance of the offer, and also like to express my sincere thanks and appreciations for the brotherly hospitality and candid reception I was met with during my recent visit to the University where the offer was practically inaugurated.
No doubt, the Tehran University of Medical Sciences represents one of the major and prominent academic pillars in the Islamic Republic of Iran and in the Eastern Mediterranean Region alike. The great impact that the university is exerting on population health is clearly evident. Its contribution through its 8 undergraduate and 80 postgraduate programmes, as well as its 11 research centers and many research satellite stations provides a natural continuum of education reflecting the deep-rooted history of health and medicine since the fifth century famous achievements.
Finally, I look forward to working together for the promotion of health of the people in the Islamic Republic of Iran and throughout the Eastern Mediterranean Region.
