Daniel Wikler Knew the Holding of the 2nd Intl. Medical Ethics Congress Effective in Materializing the Objectives and Developing Medical Ethics

TUMSPR News: At the closing session of the 2nd International Medical Ethics Congress in Iran, Daniel Wikler, as the representative of the foreign guests to the congress, said that the spread of medical ethics in Iran, in comparison to other Islamic countries, is unique.


At the closing session of the 2nd International Medical Ethics congress in Tehran, Iran, Dr. Larijani,TUMS’ chancellor and the chairman of the congress, Hodjat Al-Islam Gharaati, Dr. Aavani, the head of the Iranian Institute of Philosophy, Dr. Shariat Torbaghan, the head of the National Museum of History of Medicine and some other domestic and international scientific figures gave a speech each.

Daniel Wikler, a professor of Harvard’s School of Public Health, said that he was pleased to have had the opportunity to participate in the event and said that “I’m one of those who succeeded in participating in both medical ethics congresses in Iran and I m pleased to have experienced new things”.

Referring to the expansion of medical ethics subject in Iran, he said, “In the previous congress, valuable issues were discussed and it was not clear that this subject will grow so much, but fortunately by the high ambitions of the executive committee, today we witness a remarkable progress in this science in Iran.

Wikler, by mentioning that the congress had been able to fulfill the goals and objectives of medical ethics said, “20 years ago nobody imagined that Iran could hold this congress with this vast array of subjects and this number of participants, but today we are in Iran and we could share the experience we have gained here with our colleagues. He also invited Iranian researchers to participate in the upcoming international medical ethics conference: “This conference was held in the United States previously and presently it is held in Europe and it will be held in Singapore in future and we hope that Iran will hold it in future and in a mutual interaction, gain the knowledge and experience of other countries on the issue.
