Conference of Enhancing Quality in Medical Education

Tehran University of Medical Sciences/ public relations: Conference on “Higher Education & Development in Knowledge Based Societywith the title: Enhancing Quality of Medical Education” coordinated by GIAN group and organized by Tehran University of Medical Sciences started on Saturday, September 8th, 2007 in pharmacy faculty.


Dr. Larijani chancellor of Tehran university of medical sciences attended the opening session of this int'l conference in Tehran and welcomed every participants in his inauguration lecture .

The conference sessions during the first and second day have been performed properly and the rest of the programs are being managed to be executed according to the preplanned program. Special issues of GIAN Newsletter also published to give the necessary information on the conference to the participants and reporters attending the sessions.

The 4th GIAN Conference / Workshop on “Higher Education & Development in Knowledge Based Society: Towards Enhancing Quality and Relevance in Medical and Professional Education” is organized by Tehran University of Medical Sciences with collaboration of University of Kassel & University of Goettingen and is being held in Tehran, for three days from September 8th, 2007.

This program involves the participants in the current debates and discussions on quality assurance through group discussions, as well as through active participation in developing insights and approaches relevant to local universities in Iran and the region. The main goal is to achieve a capacity of the staff with motivation to support change towards quality improvement.

GIAN (German Iranian Alumni Network) is the network of university graduates from German Universities in Iran and the region with a variety of professional and scientific backgrounds. It is under the close coordination of the University of Kassel - Witzenhausen, the Institute for Socio-cultural Studies.
