The 9th Avicenna (Ebn-e-Sina) Research Festival is Held at TUMS

TUMS Public Relations English News Service: Yearly Avicenna (Ebn-e-Sina) Research Festival was held at Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) on February 4th, 2008.


This festival is the climax of a year of hard work by students and faculty members of the university in basic and clinical fields of medical sciences, held yearly at TUMS’ Avicenna (Ebn-e-Sina) Conference Hall.

The 9th Avicenna Research Festival’s opening remarks were by Dr. Fotouhi, TUMS’ vice-chancellor for research in which he called the objectives of the festival:

- Encouragement of researchers, faculty members and students for more ambitions activities in research, education and application of science.
- To execute research policies of the university through different sections of the festival and their intended indices.

He said that awards in research were to be given to articles published in leading science journals, discovery or innovation in a specific field, authoring books, high-cited articles, completed studies and dissertations, published articles in domestic journals, Persian or English.

The awards in education were in four categories: The Protagonists', Education, Hakim Jorjani and Medical Ethics awards, including research grants and other monetary incentives.

Dr. Larijani, TUMS’ chancellor and Dr. Lankarani, the minister of health and medical education gave their speech and then the awards were given to the winners of the festival.
