The New Health Minister Visits TUMS Sina Hospital

TUMSPR News: Dr. Marzieh Vahid-Dastjerdi, the new health minister, visited the oldest hospital in Iran as her first official visit to a medical center on September 11, 2009.


The new health minister, Dr. Marzieh Vahid-Dastjerdi, officially visited Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) Sina Hospital, the oldest hospital in Iran, in her first visit of a medical center since her vote of confidence in Iran Parliament at 12 pm on September 11, 2009. TUMS chancellor, Dr. Baqer Larijani, the health vice-minister, Dr. Imami-Razavi, TUMS vice-chancellor for health, Dr. Farid Abolhassani, and the head of the hospital, Dr. Pourmand accompanied the minister. Mrs. Dstjerdi visited different wards, emergency department, the radio-imaging unit, kidney transplantation ward and nephrology research center of the hospital and engaged in talks with patients.

Dr. Dastjerdi and Dr. Imami-Razavi both had been TUMS faculty members before taking responsibilities at the ministry.

Sina hospital is the oldest hospital in Iran in the modern time and its construction goes back to 1887.
