TUMSPR News: Mr Grigor Arakelian, Armenia’s ambassador to Iran, promised the medal of "Mkhitar Heratsi", to be awarded to the late Dr. Haratoun Davidian on the professor’s memorial held at TUMS Rouzbeh Hospital on November 19, 2009.


Armenia’s ambassador to Iran, Mr. Grigor Arakelian, promised the medal of "Mkhitar Heratsi", a medal of the Republic of Armenia, to be awarded by the President to the late Dr. Haratoun Davidian on the professor’s memorial held at Tehran University of Medical University (TUMS) Rouzbeh Hospital on November 19, 2009.

Arakelian while expressing his condolences for the loss of Dr. Davidian, said that he had had the privilege of his company and had felt the outstanding scientific character of this great humanist.

He said that Armenia’s president would award the professor for his [life-long] achievements and conveyed the condolences of the consulate members to the late professor’s family and the medical society.

The medal of Mkhitar Heratsi is awarded for services provided in the development of the healthcare of the Republic of Armenia, for highly professional practical work, as well as for significant beneficent activity (1).

Mkhitar Heratsi had been an outstanding Armenian physician of the 12th century, who authored a book entitled Relief of Fevers, which was in fact an encyclopedic work discussing surgery, diet and psychotherapy among other subjects (2).
