Iranian Scientists Warned about Side Effects of Suppressive L-thyroxine Therapy in Post-menopausal Women

Tehran University of Medical Sciences /Public Relations News Service: According to a recent research performed in Tehran university of medical sciences, It seems reasonable to check bone mass density at the 6th month of suppressive L-thyroxine therapy in post-menopausal women.
According to the results of this study, There are four points of inflexion on the graphs of the first derivatives of the equations with respect to time at about 5, 6, and 7 months in these patients.
In other words, there is a maximum speed of bone loss around the 6th month after the start of suppressive L-thyroxine therapy in post-menopausal women and due to this fact, It seems reasonable to check bone mass density at the stage of therapy.
