English News Service of TUMS: Iran could win the title of the most successful country of the world in executing strategic plans of maintainance therpy that constructs basis of harm reduction policies against drugs.
Today in the opening ceremony of the first conference of therapies for drug abuse that was held in Tehran, Milad hospital ,Dr. Mokri secretory of the conference said :Iran as the holder of the title " the most successful country of the world in maintainance therpy" now is getting ready to enter a new phase of struggle with drug abuse .
He pointed to the doubling rate of producing drugs in the neighbor country as one of the most important factors leading to increase in the addict population of Iran and said : We are planing to tackle this deteriorating situation by a vast strategic program of maintainance therapy throughout the country in order to control the main core of addict population which is itself agent of spreading drug abuse in Iran.
The first conference of therapies for drug abuse will last 3 days and different organizations will present their viewpoints in this conference to be discussed in details by the participants.
Most of the participants of this conference are physicians or psychologists who lead drug abuse therapy centers in every province of Iran.
