International Conference on the Islamic Medical Knowledge in Iran & India in the Modern Time

TUMSPR News: the international conference on the Islamic medical knowledge in Iran and India in the modem time was weld at TUMS Avicenna conference hall on February 12 to 14, 2008.
At the opening session of this three-day conference, held by the cooperation of Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS), the French Institute of Research in Iran and the Iranian & Islamic Civilizations & Culture Committee in the Iran’s Supreme Cultural Revolution Council (SCRC), Dr. Larijani, TUMS chancellor, Dr. Shams-Ardakani, the secretary of the conference, Professor Christian Bromberger, the head of French Institute of Research in Iran, Dr. Fabrizio Speziale, a member of the institute and a group of distinguished cultural and scientific figures TUMS, France, Italy, India, and England were present.
The opening speech was by TUMS chancellor who welcomed the guests, congratulated the days of revolution and expressed his delight for the part TUMS has taken to hold the conference.
Dr. Larijani by mentioning the long history of cultural and social exchange between Iran and India, reminded that from the midpoint of Safavid epoch and under the influence of some factors, including coincidence of this period of time with the rise of Gourkani in the ancient country of India, numerous cultural, social and religious exchange had taken place between the two civilizations and in addition to the flow of Iranian poets, writers, and scholars that had immigrated to the dream country of India helped a poetical movement named Indian style. He said that scientists and intellectuals especially most able physicians had immigrated to India and had helped the Persian language prosper in that corner of the world.
Afterwards, professor Bromberger by welcoming the participants knew the theoretical and practical exchange of medical science an important issue. He also said the French Institute of Research in Iran had held two scientific conferences titled Spiritual Authority and History of Hospitals in Iran and India both related to the history of medical sciences.
Dr. Shams Ardakani, the secretary of the conference, by pointing at the cooperation for the conference, said that TUMS as a leading university in Iran with great responsibilities had especial interests in Iranian and traditional medicine and said that a number of distinguished Iranian scientists were writing a bibliography of Iranian documents in the libraries of India.
