Tehran university of medical sciences/ Public relations News Service: Dr. Shams Ardakani who is the vice- chancellor of the university for food & drug, & the dean of the first faculty of Iranian traditional medicine, in a special interview said that the fields of study at this faculty are : traditional pharmacy, traditional medicine, medical ethics & medical history.
Dr. Ardakani announced : We will admit students in the fields of traditional medicine(Ph.D) & traditional pharmacy(M.Sc). He added that, according to the agreement with Shahed, Shahid Beheshti, & Iran Universities, the first educational courses of their students will be held at Tehran university .
He said that the number of students in the first admission has been determined 12, but it may increase. Dr. Ardakani specified types of activities that will be performed, such as, rewriting the textbooks, researching on theories, views & creatorship of ancient Muslim practitioners.
He predicted that the research center of traditional medicine will be established in near future, as well as the clinical center. He added that the research center of traditional medicine will provide the research materials.
He said that some of various traditional medicines of the different cultures around the world proven to be scientific & effective as well, specifically our own Islamic traditional medicine which is based on the principle of Unity of the almighty God.
