Based on a report by TUMS Public Relations reporters, Dr. Bagher Larijani, Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) chancellor, and the members of the governing committee hosted Eng. Baghaiea, the state’s vice-president for Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization, for topics related to health tourism. The meeting began by visiting the Museum of the History of Medical Sciences which uniquely exhibits some parts of the Persian medical past.

Then, the chancellor briefly touched on the 75-year history of the university which takes its roots in Dar-al-Fonon School, the first school introducing the modern era technologies and teachings to state's schools in 1849 and University of Tehran (1934) by establishing
its School of Medicine. He called the museum a national heritage that had to be adequately taken care of.

He then reminded that TUMS was encompassing one-third of the capital with four million residents benifiting from its health services and it has vast logistical and scientific resources and it was ready to seriously engage in health tourism. He finally hoped for an ever-growing relationship with the organization for addressing health tourism.

Upon visitin the museum, Eng. Baghaiea, called the complex a "highly valuable" asset and promised to take every possible action to help repair the building of the museum and make it more widely known to the public.

The vice-minister then welcomed the idea for mutual cooperation in health tourism and asked the university to actively cooperate in the process regarding its wealth of scientific knowledge and treatment capabilities, especially for offering health services in free trade zones.

Eventually, a bilateral agreement was signed between the two parties.
