TUMSPR News: Tehran University of Medical Sciences will hold the first Iranian Folk Medicine Congress at Imam Khomeni Conference Hall on 22 to 24 December 2008.

The first Iranian Folk Medicine Congress will be held by Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) at Imam Khomeni Conference Hall in Tehran, Iran, on 22 to 24 December 2008.

The congress will cover the following subjects:
- Local practitioners
- Treatment methods in folk medicine
- The role of nutrition and its kinds on treatment
- Natural resources and products in folk medicine
- Prescriptions
- Treatment rituals and rites
- Beliefs and fallacies

Challenges:
- Folk medicine part of Iranian moral cultural heritage
- Strategies and approaches to Iranian folk medicine
- Hurdles in identifying and data gathering regarding folk medicine
- Intellectual property / ownership in folk medicine
