TUMS Leaps 127 steps in ESI Ranking in May 2010

TUMSPR News: Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) has leaped 127 steps in Essential Science IndicatorS (ESI) ranking released for May 2010.


Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) has leaped 127 steps in Essential Science Indicators ranking to secure the 1618th place among peer institutions around the world. The ranking was released in May 2010.
Papers published in the fields of Pharmacology and Toxicology put TUMS at the 374th position or among the top 1% institutions in these fields. TUMS papers in Clinical Medicine ranked 1188th.

Based on the report by the Scientometrics center of the University, the number of citations to papers authored by TUMS faculty members has increased from 10565 to 13537 and the mean citation to papers from 3.65 to 3.94. The recent analysis by Thomson Reuters (ISI Web of Knowledge) has included papers published form January 2000 to February 2010. The information is updated bimonthly by the database.

Iran has the 40 position among 145 countries in paper citations _ from the former 41st and it has gained the 32nd position in the number of published articles compared to the previous 38th rank. The second highest number of citations, 243, has also been achieved by TUMS.

In Clinical Medicine and Pharmacology and Toxicology Iran has gained the 44th and 36th positions regarding the number of citations.

Currently, Essential Science Indicators indexes more than 11,500 of the world's most influential journals across 22 broad fields of science and social science.

Aside from the Essential Science Indicators that covers the published articles in different fields of science, Tehran University of Medical Sciences in conjunction with University of Tehran ranked 368 among 5000 higher education institutions in 2009 by THE-QS.
