Iran's National Influenza Center Successfully Validated by WHO

TUMSPR News: The National Influenza Center at TUMS School of Public Health has achieved the highest mark at Proficiency Test by the World Health Organization (WHO).


The National Influenza Center at the Virology Department of TUMS School of Public Health recently achieved the highest mark at Proficiency Test by the World Health Organization (WHO).

The Influenza Laboratory which has been operating as a national reference center and simultaneously been cooperating with the WHO since 1969 by identifying and reporting influenza viruses found in Iran to the organization.

The center was further developed by the Ministry of Health and Medical Education when avian flu or H5N1 strain of the virus reached pandemic proportions in 2006.

The high-tech facilities and capabilities of the researchers of the center have given the center the potentials to be recognized as a regional reference center.
