TUMSPR News: Dr. Abd-alreza Soudbakhsh, a TUMS faculty member passed away on Tuesday evening September 21, 2010.


Dr. Abd-alreza Soudbakhsh, an associate professor in the field of infectious diseases passed away by gunshots outside his office on Tuesday evening September 21, 2010.

In a message, Dr. Bagher Larijani, TUMS chancellor, condoled his family, students, colleagues and the faculties and expressed his deep sorrows for the loss and asked the authorities to bring the suspected murderer(s) to justice as had the Minister of Health and Medical Education, Dr. Marzieh Vahud-dastjerdi, requested at the same time.

On September 29, 2010, the Minister of Health, TUMS chancellor, the president of Iran's Medical Council and many other high profile figures attended in the funeral held at Imam Khomeini Hospital's mosque to remember the late Dr. Soudbakhsh (picture gallery).

Dr. Abd-alreza Soudbakhsh, born in Bandar Anzali, Gilan in 1949, graduated from medicine from Mashad Ferdowsi University in 1975 and specialized in infectious diseases in 1980 from TUMS School of Medicine.

Dr. Soudbakhsh was a faculty member of Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) at the Infectious Diseases Ward in Imam Khomeini Hospital.

Dr. Soudbakhsh’s death left his patients, students and colleagues with deep sorrow.
