Representative of WHO in Eastern Mediterranean Region Visits South District Health Center

TUMSPR News: Dr. Salem Barghout, the MDR coordinator of EMRO visited Shahid Vahedi Health Center under TUMS South District Health Center for the evaluation of tuberculosis management on August 5, 2010.


Based on the report by the Public Relations office of South District Health Center, Dr. Salem Barghout, the multi Drug resistant (MDR) tuberculosis coordinator of the World Health Organization (WHO) in the Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMRO) accompanied by the ministry of health officials in Disease Control and Management Department visited Shahid Vahedi Urban Health Center on August 5, 2010.

Dr. Barghout who was in Iran to evaluate MDR TB management closely witnessed the way care was being rendered by going to the house of a TB patient.

In a short interview, Dr. Barghout had admired MDR TB management in the country and had thanked those at the health center.

TUMS South District Health Center is one of the three district health centers under Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS). TUMS is responsible for a population of about 4.4 million people in Tehran and its suburban areas.
