TUMSPR News: The chancellor for Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS), Dr. Bagher Larijani, introduced four distinguished professors of the University for the year 2010, Dr. Ardeshir Ghavamzadeh being one of them, based on the decision made by the Council for the selection of distinguished professors in August 2010.


Dr. Bagher Larijani, the chancellor for Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS), introduced the four distinguished professors of the University, Dr. Ardeshir Ghavamzadeh, Dr. Kazem Mohammad, Dr. Fereidoun Davachi and Dr. Bahador Alamiharandi, based on the decision made by the Council for the selection of distinguished professors in August 2010.

Born in Tehran in 1940, Ghavamzadeh studies medicine in Vienna Medical School in Austria and graduated in 1971. In 1977, he completed his specialty in internal medicine and oncology and in 1991 fellowsip in hematology and bone marrow transplant in Switzerland.

Presently, he is the head of TUMS Hematology-Oncology and BMT Research Center.

Positions held

The head of Lymphoma and Bone Marrow Transplant Congress held in Tehran in 1994.
The head of Bone Marrow Transplant Congress in 2000.
The head of Hematology-Oncology Association in 1994.
The head of national hematology oncology board committee in 1991.
The head of TUMS Hematology-Oncology and BMT Research Center since 1999.
The head of TUMS Dr. Shariati Hospital from 1980 to 1982.

Dr. Ghavamzadeh was recently given the honorary membership of European Blood and Marrow Transplantation Group in 2010.
