Delegations from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal and Seri Lanka Visit the Iranian National Center for Addiction Studies

TUMSPR News: A delegation composed of authorities from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal and Seri Lanka visited the Iranian National Center for Addiction Studies (INCAS) on July 28, 2008.


Based on the Persian report of the Public Relations of INCAS, the visit had been made possible by the coordination of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in South-Asia and the approval of Iran Drug Control Headquarters.

The meeting had been organized to closely observe Iran’ achievements regarding its knowledge hub for the prevention and control of HIV/AIDS in prisons.

During the visit Dr. Mohsenifar explained the objectives of the knowledge hub project, a network for harm reduction in the middle-east and North Africa.

Later on, Dr. Azarakhsh Mokri, the deputy for education of INCAS, introduced the goals and programs of the center, its joint programs with different countries, narcotics harm and demand reduction, and the possibilities of developing its collaboration with other countries. He also talked on different treatment schedules for narcotic addiction, DICs and results of some researches at the center.

The participants discussed the mentioned subjects and finally visited the center’s clinics, research department and the laboratory there.

The delegations had been in Iran from July 26 to 29, 2008 and had met the authorities of Iran Drug Control, the UNODC office in Iran, the head of Narcotic Prevention and Treatment of the Health Ministry and the head of Center for Disease Control of the Ministry.
