Iranian Health Ministry to Hold a Congress for the Inclusion of WFME Global Standards in Undergraduate Medical Education Curriculum

TUMSPR News: The Iranian Health Ministry will be holding an international congress for the implementation of World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) global standards for undergraduate medical education on Kish Island, Iran, from 7th to 9th November 2008.
The meeting, organized in collaboration with the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) and renowned international experts will discuss practical issues in medical education there and it is hoped that networks of collaborative countries will be developed to improve the quality of medical education globally.
The meeting will cover the following subjects:
• Global reports of the implementation of the WFME standards: Practical tips and guidelines
• Curriculum outcomes in undergraduate medical education
• Contents of curricula in undergraduate medical education
• Teaching and learning methods in undergraduate medical education
• Integrated curriculum models for undergraduate medical education
• Assessment methods in undergraduate medical education
• Organization of the content of the curriculum
• Curriculum management
• Linkage between undergraduate and postgraduate curricula
• Curriculum evaluation
Workshops will accompany the theoretical sessions too as follows:
• Curriculum integration: Practical pearls and tips
• Program evaluation
• Accreditation in undergraduate medical education
• Distance learning
• Assessment of students in undergraduate medical education
The deadline for abstract submission is September 30, 2008.
Awards will be granted to the 5 best oral presentations and the 5 best poster presentations.
